Rudder cap (aka top cap or headset cap) is a round element mounted on top of the bike's steerer tube - that is, at the very top of the fork, just above the stem. It is about 32-35 mm in diameter and is fastened with a single M6 bolt.

It serves two functions: technical - it presses the headset down and ensures the correct headset bearing preload, and aesthetic - it is one of the most visible details on a bike and a great spot for personalization.

The whole operation: about 2 minutes. Important: after replacing, check that the stem is properly tightened and that the headset has no play.

Use the included 3 mm aluminium spacer - you place it under the stem on the steerer tube. If you need a thicker spacer - they are widely available in bike shops.

CapMyRide top caps require no special care. You can wash your bike normally - with a pressure washer, soap and water. The engraving is durable and waterproof. The only rule: do not aim the pressure stream directly at the headset bearings (a general rule for the whole bike).
